What is Worsted - worsted is a size classification for yarns. It measures or defines the diameter of the yarn. Yarns are sold in different diameter and the crocheter or knitter uses as much yardage they need to complete their project.
Why does Yarn Weight Matter - yarn weight impacts a few important factors such as your gauge and the speed at which a project can be completed. Yarns with higher weights such as bulky, etc. can be completed much faster as the diameter is thicker and more fabric can be made in a shorter amount of time. Gauge is the measurement used to determine these things: how fast or how much fabric can be made in a certain amount of stitches. This is then used to measure the parts of the garment or project
